A different way to approach food: Mindful Eating
You may have come across the term mindful eating at some point in your life and thought to yourself “this is useless” or “I don’t have time for this.” I know I did when I first learned about it in a college course where we had to eat a slice of a clementine so slowly it was painful. But years later, mindful eating was the first step I took to form a better relationship with food. It might sound too good to be true, but paying attention to the food (or drinks) you put into your mouth can have a bigger effect than you even imagined. Now, I’m not saying you need to eat in turtle mode, but you’re paying attention to how YOU feel, ridding the “shoulds” and “should nots” of eating. It’s all too common that we start to eat in a way that we think will help us lose weight or get clearer skin and we don’t even enjoy what we’re eating or it’s causing us more harm than good. That’s the beauty of mindful eating: your body will tell you what it needs.
